Terms of Service
Last updated: September 30, 2026
Short version: Use Movo honestly, keep your PIN private, and we'll keep your money moving. If something goes wrong, we'll work it out with you.
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Movo mobile app and website. By creating a Movo account, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use Movo.
1. Who can use Movo
You must be at least 18 years old and legally capable of entering into a binding contract. You must provide accurate information during sign-up and complete identity verification (KYC) before using money-movement features.
2. Your account
- You are responsible for keeping your password and PIN secret.
- You must notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.
- One Movo account per person. Multiple accounts may be closed without notice.
- We may suspend or close your account if we detect fraud, abuse, or a legal requirement to do so.
3. Services
Movo provides the following services, subject to availability in your country:
- Money transfers to Movo users across Africa.
- Bill payments (electricity, cable, internet, and other utilities).
- Airtime and data purchases on supported networks.
- Flight bookings through partner airlines and aggregators.
- Movo card — a payment card linked to your Movo wallet.
4. Fees and charges
Transfers to other Movo users within supported African countries are free. Where fees apply (bill payments, third-party partners), they are shown before you confirm the transaction. You are responsible for any tax obligations arising from your use of Movo.
5. Fund your wallet
You can fund your Movo wallet by bank transfer, debit card, or receiving money from another Movo user. Funds are made available immediately on confirmation. Movo does not pay interest on wallet balances.
6. Transactions
- Once you confirm a transaction, it cannot be reversed by Movo unless the recipient fails to receive it or an error occurs.
- You are responsible for the accuracy of recipient details (phone number, account number, flight details).
- Flight bookings are subject to the fare rules of the airline and our travel partners. Cancellations and refunds follow the airline's policy.
- If a transaction fails, funds are returned to your wallet. Timing depends on the underlying provider — usually within minutes, occasionally up to 24 hours.
7. Prohibited uses
You may not use Movo for:
- Money laundering, terrorism financing, or any illegal activity.
- Fraud, scams, or misrepresentation.
- Purchasing goods or services prohibited by law in your jurisdiction.
- Attempting to interfere with Movo's systems or other users' accounts.
- Impersonating another person.
Violation may result in account closure and reporting to authorities.
8. Availability
We aim for 24/7 uptime but cannot guarantee uninterrupted service. Planned maintenance will be announced in-app. Movo is not liable for delays caused by banks, airlines, telecom networks, or other third parties.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Movo's total liability for any claim arising from your use of the service is limited to the amount of the disputed transaction. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses.
10. Intellectual property
The Movo name, logo, app, and content are our property or licensed to us. You may not copy, modify, or redistribute them without written permission.
11. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. Material changes will be notified in-app at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of Movo after that date constitutes acceptance.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of Lagos State, unless otherwise required by mandatory consumer-protection law in your jurisdiction.
